The Augmented Leader
An Executive Operating System for Human–AI Decision-Making
A practical leadership argument for the moment when AI’s contribution must become a decision somebody can own.

A recommendation is still input.
The book defines a decision as a commitment to a direction of action under uncertainty. AI may inform that commitment, help build alternatives or act within authorized boundaries. Responsibility for the authorization and its consequences remains human and organizational.
For a leader, the immediate question is practical: what did the system contribute, what did you add, and what have you actually committed to?
Frame
Identify the real decision. Separate evidence, assumptions and what remains unknown.
Commit
Make direction, ownership and consequence explicit before a recommendation becomes action.
Review
Choose evidence to monitor, then return to what happened without rewriting the original reasoning.
THE THREE DIAGNOSTIC QUESTIONS
Bring a real decision.
Choose one decision that matters in your role. Answer these questions briefly:
- What does the machine see that I cannot?
- What do I see that the machine cannot?
- How do we synthesize both into better judgment than either produces alone?
Then write the commitment, the person who owns it and the condition that would trigger review. This is an exercise in making judgment explicit, not a promise of a particular result.
What role is AI playing?
The book names five AI Engagement Modes:
- Informer
- Organizes and surfaces information. Check what the view leaves out.
- Advisor
- Recommends a direction. Keep recommendation separate from commitment.
- Collaborator
- Develops alternatives iteratively. Revisit the frame, not only the answer.
- Supervisor
- Monitors predefined signals. Specify escalation and the response owner.
- Delegate
- Executes within authorized boundaries. Define limits, monitoring, override and review.
These are decision-specific roles, not a progression toward maximum automation. Challenge can operate across the modes.
Keep the reasoning visible.
The Executive Decision Log records the decision, context, zone, AI role, Machine Input, Human Judgment, Synthesis Rationale, Final Commitment, Monitoring Signal and Lesson Learned. Select decisions worth reviewing rather than logging everything.
Reading and guided application.
Chapter 10 offers a personal 90-day activation plan: Awareness, Practice and Integration. The book’s practices can be used independently, without dedicated software.
The individual 90-day guided programme we are preparing has a different delivery role. It is designed to bring materials, exercises, feedback and reviews together inside AugmenterOS. Enrolment opens only when that basic experience and its terms are ready. Buying the book is not a requirement.
Romanian and English versions are developed in parallel and launch independently when ready.
